Giprotsvetmet project for the development of the Ak-Sug porphyry-copper deposit was first submitted for consideration of the Central Commission of the Development of Mineral Deposits "Rosnedra", March 30, 2020. The documentation is prepared to implement technical, technological and organizational decisions for the deposit commissioning. It will allow developing the site in an open way, whose products are copper and molybdenum concentrates.
In the project boundaries, prepared by employees of the Institute, mining operations are provided, approved in 2014 according to the calendar schedule. Stages of work include construction end exploitation of the quarry, processing, infrastructure and transport. According to the technical documentation the beginning of the plant, Ag-Sug based (24 million tons of ore per year production capacity); scheduled for 2020 and commissioning is scheduled for 2023.
Ak-Sug porphyry-copper deposit was opened in 1952 and is one of the five largest in Russia in terms of copper resourses. This unique deposit is located on the territory of Togikinsk municipal region in Tyva Republic in mountain-taiga area between Ak-Sug and Dachtyg-Oi rivers, 240 km north-east fromKyzyl. The Ak-Sug mining processing plant will be a backbone enterprise in Tyva Republic and one of the largest enterprises of the "Yenisei Siberia" project.
